Usage Instructions

We update these recommendations based on the experiences of our customers, the latest research and on the advice of professional bodies. If you are unsure on any aspect – please contact us as any time.

To Start: Establish a Sterile Environment

To begin, make sure you wash your hands as well as making sure that the body area you are about to treat is also clean. We also recommend that you ensure that the treatment area is clean and free from germs. You may wish to wipe down the area with a disinfectant or similar.

If it is the first time you are using your Dermaroller, this model will require sterilizing before use. To sterilize the product, please see the section entitled Care of your Derma Roller and Pre-sterilization.

Ensure that you have all the items necessary to begin your treatment including your Dermaroller, moisturizer, Topicaine gel (if used), antibacterial cream (if used) and any other third party products you may require.

Method – Home Use

Using the roller with slight pressure; roll the device back and forth four times in four directions as shown below. The treatment should not be painful and should not draw blood. You will become accustomed to how much pressure you can apply without causing any pain or discomfort.

How to use a dermaroller

Skin Care After Rolling
We strongly recommend applying a vitamin rich moisturizer after use. (Ensure it includes Vitamin E and/or A as these assist in collagen production). Remember that part of the benefits of using your roller is the boost in absorption rates of topical products. Nourishing your skin at this point can reap major benefits.

You may experience a slight reddening of the area after treatment. This will fade quickly when using the Medic Roller for home use. We strongly recommend either staying out of the sun for this period or using a sunscreen to protect yourself.

Face Treatment

Please take care when using the Dermaroller on your face. Do not use excessively long needles and never use the Dermaroller on your eyes or lips.

Care of your Derma Roller and Pre-sterilization

When you have finished using the device, rinse it under hot running water.  You should also sterilize the device on a weekly basis. To do this, place the roller in diluted antibacterial disinfectant (Dettol is a well known brand ideal for this) and leave to stand for around a minute. Follow this by rinsing the Roller with clean water (boiling water is ideal), shake off the excess liquid and stand on a clean towel to dry.  Please do not put the device away while it is still wet.  When it is completely dry, put the roller away where it will avoid damage.

Possible Side Effects

The following side effects may be experienced by some users:

  • Redness of skin – This should fade within a few hours. Slight redness may be experienced for 24 hours, depending on the pressure applied during rolling.
  • Dry Skin – Occasionally, some users may experience dryness or even slight flaking of skin after use. Ensure you are using a moisturizer after use. Some users will find that the dryness is less pronounced by rolling less often. (Allow a few days extra between rolls) If dryness or flakiness continues, we do recommend you seek advice as to whether this type of treatment is suitable for you long term.
  • Rash – In Very rare occasions, a temporary rash may appear on user’s skin. This is most common with the clinical style rolling and should fade within a few days. If unsure, we do recommend you seek medical advice.
